Kennedy Center Special Events
Each year The Kennedy Center, Inc. hosts several major fundraising* events. See our calendar for this year's dates and specific event information.
Annual Dinner Cabaret and Auction
Since 1991, the Annual Dinner Cabaret and Auction has been held each year at the Marriott Hotel in Trumbull, Connecticut in January. There is a special theme that is carried into the decorations, the two-act musical revue, the invitation and program design, and the type of food and creative attendee attire. The Cabaret attracts a sold- out audience of over 400 people from Fairfield and New Haven Counties and several other locations throughout the U.S. During the evening all of our guests have the opportunity to bid on items in both the live and silent auctions. In addition, a three-course meal and a two act musical revue takes place. The magnificent evening provides entertainment and the chance to purchase special trips and unusual items for excellent prices while supporting a worthwhile non-profit organization and its programs.
Charity Golf Classic
The Kennedy Center's Annual Charity Golf Classic takes place at Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, Connecticut in June. Established in 1991, the proceeds from this unique tournament benefits The Kennedy Center programs and, in addition, provides $ 10,000 each year in scholarship money to junior golfers. Connecticut's top male and female junior golfers are teamed with adult foursomes in a scramble format. The tournament has been a tremendous success in the past. The golfers enjoy a barbeque lunch before heading out onto the course. After an exhilarating day in the sun, the golfers welcome a social hour with the Fred and Fran Ahlbin Junior Golf Scholarship Awards Presentation, followed by a full dinner and golf prize presentations.
Magic Moments Magic Moments, a celebration of magic and wonder, is a new event for The Kennedy Center and will take place at the SoNo Field House in Norwalk. The proceeds from this event are being used to fund The Autism Project, a new program for children and young adults with autism. The event begins with a high-end champagne and wine tasting reception for sponsors and other VIP's sponsored by Moet-Hennessey USA and Harry's Wine & Liquor Market of Fairfield. The VIP reception is followed by the main event, which features gourmet food, cocktails and live music in the main field house. For more information return to our homepage, under "what's coming up".
Business Breakfast Challenge Be a Team Captain or a Team Player at this fun event. Individuals and/or businesses team together to challenge each other in various competitions. The overall challenge goes to the team with the highest donation total, other awards go to the team with the most spirit and first-time participants with the highest donation dollars. The full breakfast is free and takes place at The Circle Diner in Fairfield. Everyone is invited to participate and all proceeds benefit the programs and services for persons with disabilities and special needs provided by The Kennedy Center.
Four Seasons Ball
The Four Seasons Ball has been the signature event of The Kennedy Center, Inc. for the past forty-four years. Approximately 300 of our active supporters attend the ball each year. The black tie gala includes an elegant evening of dinner and dancing. This year the event is being held at a new location, The Waterview in Monroe, CT. During the evening The Kennedy Center pays tribute to and honors a person, couple or family for their commitment to the agency over many years. The honorees are presented with a Tribute Journal filled with warm messages of thanks from the community, well-known government officials, and other friends and supporters of The Kennedy Center, Inc. This event was established originally to benefit the group residences that were operated by The Kennedy Center. Today, that is still the fundraising goal, but so much more is required since our organization now operates 17 group homes and a variety of independent and supported living options.
Annual Meeting and Dinner Following the by-laws requirement for The Kennedy Center as a 501 (c) (3) agency, an Annual Meeting has been held by the organization for the past fifty-two years. The Annual Dinner brings together the clients, staff, and supporters of The Kennedy Center for an evening of business, praise, and celebration. A talk on the "State of the Agency" is presented to the 200+ attendees and a keynote speaker always entertains with an appropriate talk to the gathered body of listeners. A select group of clients, employers, and philanthropic and community-minded businesses are honored throughout the evening. and those whom employee them are honored with awards that evening. These awards allow the organization to laud an individual or company for their hard work throughout the year. On this special occasion, this large group of people gather at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport to honor this wonderful organization established over fifty-nine years ago.
Legislative Breakfast Each year at the beginning of the Connecticut Assembly's Legislative Session, The Kennedy Center invites more than 100 members of the House of Representatives and the Senate to a breakfast that is created by their own in-house business, Soups and Such. The legislators hear about the concerns of private sector non-profits such as The Kennedy Center and they have the opportunity to ask questions and to share information. This event gives the legislators a visit to our new Lindeman Drive facility and to meet some of the consumers whom we serve.
